This varies depending on factors, including, but not limited to:
- Prior dive experience, particularly recent
- Current level of proficiency with in-water skills
- If you own all of your gear (exception of tanks/weights)
We will build the course around your specific situation and give you an idea of what to expect.
Minimum age: 18 years old
Minimum certifications: PADI Rescue Diver with a minimum of 40 dives, CPR/First aid in last 24 months, and medical clearance
Additionally, if coming to Trinity Diving from an outside shop, an interview with a panel of TD staff (usually 3, no less than 2 interviewers.)
Must show a dedication to student divers while acting in a respectful manner to students, staff, and others that we come in contact with such as City employees, dive site staff, hotel staff, etc. This is a requirement. We do hold the right to dismiss candidacy for those who cannot do this, and, have once had to do this. Be respectful and willing to learn and dismissal will never come up.
This also varies based upon how experienced a candidate it, when during the calendar year you start and how it falls in line with other class schedules, and your own schedule. DM is essentially an entire internship in which you will learn dive skills, teaching/mentorship, academics, dive shop operations, and far more! We tend to see the average at around 9 months, for an idea.
