We get asked about this a lot! Founded in 2009, avid divers Jesse and Jim Kuzma recognized the need for a dive shop in Northwest New Mexico. Believe it or not, there are many certified divers here! Some dive in our local lakes, some only dive on vacation, but all need the training it takes to become a competent diver!
Started in 2009, Trinity Diving launched out of Aztec, NM on Main Street. After many years, we did decide to close the brick and mortar store on Main Street for a variety of reasons. That said, please disregard the findings on the internet of our location at 123 S Main Aztec NM 87418. We currently have a shop west of Durango, CO which can be visited by appointment. We offer air fills, new/used gear sales, visual tank inspections, and limited service (depending upon makes/models etc.)
Our pool training is conducted at the Farmington Aquatic Center at 1151 Sullivan Ave in Farmington, NM. It is an Olympic sized pool that we have contracted with since 2009 for classes on Saturday mornings. The pool is closed to the public during our training and you will have access to all facilities on site. The pool depth is ~14 feet maximum and is large enough to explore, practice long distance buoyancy control, and receive a fully immersive dive experience!
I certified OW in 2001 and later became an instructor in 2009. Jim and I started the shop together. With 23 years of individual experience and a combined 46 years of diving, we will be your instructors leading you through your journey!

Outside of Trinity Diving I am an instructional designer. In the past I've dedicated years as a law enforcement officer and CPS Special Victims Unit Investigator, later shifting back to the healthcare field. I take pride in sharing my wild experiences from my work and travels to enhance the diving experience of students.
I hold an MBA specializing in Healthcare Administration, anM.S. in Learning Experience Design, B.As in Psychology and Spanish, and an A.A.S. in Law Enforcement.
I began my journey to PADI Instructor when I received my Open Water Diver certification Spring of 2001. In the next few years, I earned my AOW, RD & DM certifications. I recently retired as a public school teacher after 43 years of service teaching Photography, Graphic Design, Computer Science and Guitar. Photography has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy sharing that with my scuba students as I teach the Underwater Photography and Videography specialty courses here at Trinity Diving.
My degrees include a BS in secondary education, a MS in Computer Science and a PhD in Photography, a 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I am an Emergency First Response Instructor.

I was an art teacher and during my professional career, I taught K through college level classes. When we moved to Colorado I decided to embrace ranch life, become a shepherd and dedicate myself raising sheep. That combined with our scuba lifestyle is always a good time!
Larry is our lead Divemaster who has been with Trinity Diving for many years. He supports classes nearly every weekend and does great with students needing extra practice with skills. If you're feeling a bit nervous or need additional time on a skill, Larry is great at showing things in a variety of ways and at a speed that you're comfortable with!

I'm a veterinary technician as I have a passion for helping animals when sick or injured. Because of the dedication required for the job and long, sometimes spontaneous hours, I'm only present sometimes for pool and open water sessions.
I have an A.A.S in Veterinary Medicine and was previously a Real Estate Associate Broker in NM.

In 1990 while serving in the Air Force in the Philippines I had an opportunity to learn Open Water Scuba Diving. While using my Career Specialty, I dove Advance Dives for at least 17 years at the local lakes. While taking trips, I discovered that I might only be seen as an Open Water Diver. Because of this fact I decided to take the Advanced Class, where the instructor said, “That I was diving more than anyone else in the area besides him.”
Within the next 3 years, I got my friends into scuba diving. This led me to take the Rescue Diver class with Trinity Diving because I felt responsible for their safety, as they mainly dove with me. In 2011, Jim persuaded me to become a Divemaster, and in 2012 was influenced to become an instructor. During this time, I learned how to service and repair my equipment. This knowledge was warranted because I sent my equipment off for service and came back in worse shape than before. Although nowadays work and my other hobbies tend to keep me from scuba diving as much as I use to.
